Biography

Funke was born on January 28, 1963, in Ibadan, Oyo state. Her birth caused controversies because being a female child, her father was advised not to send her to school or provide training, thinking she couldn’t be successful.

She often talks about her challenging background. Once, the family had no plates because her mother sold them to buy medicine for her sick brother.

At the age of 14, Rev. Funke embraced Christianity. Reflecting on that moment, she said, “My life saw a turnaround, and it has been growing better and better ever since.”

Education

She went to school in Ibadan for both primary and secondary education. Later, she studied at the University of Ibadan and earned a bachelor’s degree in English Language. Currently, she is pursuing another degree in Law at Baze University Abuja.

Family

Funke is married to Rev. Felix Adejumo, and they have a joyful marriage. They met in 1982 in Ibadan and got married in 1984. Bishop Felix is the Senior Pastor and Founder of Agape Christian Ministries Inc. Together, they have four biological children and also adopted children and grandchildren.

Funke Felix Adejumo Church

Before Mr. Felix felt called to ministry, the family lived in Ibadan. It took three years to convince his wife of the revelation to start ministry in Ondo state, and eventually, they moved.

On August 12, 1989, Funke and Felix were ordained as Ministers of God in Ondo State, Nigeria.

They began with a small fellowship in their living room, and as they grew, they moved to a new place. The church officially opened on August 7, 1988, in Victory Nursery School, Akure.

Today, Agape Christian Ministries is a well-known church in Nigeria with branches in over 30 locations.

Pastor Funke focuses on helping women, including widows, single mothers, wives, mothers, and daughters, as a humanitarian and philanthropist.

She is the president of Funke Felix Adejumo Foundation (FFAF), a non-governmental organization helping women. The foundation aims to assist people living in poverty, just like she once did. She also oversees an orphanage called Grace Orphanage, and in 2003, she and her husband, Felix Adejumo, built a children’s hospital.

Additionally, Pastor Funke runs Another Chance Women’s Home, a shelter for women who are victims of domestic violence. This home provides a safe space for these women until they heal.

Adejumo also conducts training sessions for women at local and international conferences, teaching them how to navigate life, career, and marriage more effectively.

In 2017, she received the Salt and Light Award from Awesome Treasures Foundation (ATF).

Faith University, in collaboration with Oral Roberts University, also bestowed honorary doctorate degrees (Honoras Causa) in Divinity upon Funke and her husband.
