Biography
Pastor Howerton was born in Texas, USA, into a Christian family with a Baptist minister grandfather and a pastor father.
Even though he grew up in a Christian environment, he only gave his life to Christ at the age of 16. His first experience preaching came when his youth pastor invited him to speak.
Today, Pastor Howerton serves as the senior pastor of LakePointe Church. His passion lies in making disciples, training leaders, and establishing churches through the Strategic Launch Network.
Through Lakepointe’s church planting network, they have successfully planted and continue to support over 40 churches in mainly secular cities across the United States.

Josh graduated from Union University with a degree in Theological Studies and later attended Southern Seminary.

Jana Howerton is married to Josh. They met on a blind date and have been married since then. They have three children: Eliana, Felicity Hope, and Hudson.
Before joining Lake Pointe Church, the couple worked together at The Bridge Church in Nashville, TN for 10 years.
Ministry
Josh is the Senior Pastor of Lakepointe Church, a church with 6 campuses in Dallas, TX. Before joining LakePointe, he served as the senior pastor at The Bridge Church for ten years. His mentor, Steve Stroope of LakePointe Church, was looking for a successor, and Josh developed a close relationship with him, considering him his spiritual father.
In 2018, Steve approached Josh about becoming the senior pastor of LakePointe Church. Initially, Josh and his wife declined the offer as they had plans to retire at their current church. However, Steve knew Josh’s passion for church planting, especially in urban areas, and persisted in his request. After visiting LakePointe Church and experiencing something stirring within him, Josh reconsidered.
After several supernatural encounters, Josh and his wife changed their minds and accepted LakePointe’s invitation. In February 2019, they moved to LakePointe, and for one year, Josh served as the co-pastor with Steve. He eventually became the senior pastor in February 2020.
Books
Josh, the Senior Pastor of Lakepointe Church, is also an author and has co-authored a Bible study guide titled “The Truth: Engaging the Foundations of the Faith.” This study book helps disciples understand what a disciple believes and uses teaching, questions, conversation, exercises, and individual study for transformational discipleship.
He collaborated with Craig Etheredge on this book and has co-authored other books like:
