FUOYE Declares Lecture Free Day For Deceased Student

FUOYE Admission List Is Out For 2022/2023 Academic Session

The Management of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has declared a lecture free day for a student, Taiwo Gbolahan who died after a road accident on his way to school.

This was contained in a release made available to newsmen on Saturday by Wole Balogun, Special Adviser on Media Matters to the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina.

Balogun’s statement reads in part: ” With heavy heart, we announce the death of a student, Taiwo Gbolahan, who lost his life in an auto crash while he was on his way to the campus.

“Immediately the news got to the University management that the accident occurred, we sent ambulance and logistics to admit the deceased at Federal. Medical centre Ido-Ekiti, his parents were informed and his father was at the hospital, the University shouldered the hospital bills and treatment for him began earnestly, it was when in was in the theatre that the unforfunate happened.

In another development, the University’s Dean of Student Affairs, Prof Dosu Malomo announced a lecture free day to mourn the deceased , in his message entitled: “CONDOLENCE MESSAGE AND LECTURE FREE- DAY, he said: “The University has received the sad news of the loss of one our students in a ghastly motor accident on Ikole-Oye highway today, This is in spite of the spirited and prompt efforts of the Directorate of University Medical Services to render help and convey the student to the Federal Teaching Hospital Ido for comprehensive attention.

The Vice- Chancellor and the entire University send its condolences for this unfortunate loss.

Consequently, I wish to declare that tomorrow Saturday the 17th of December is hereby declared a lecture free -day as mark of respect for the lost soul.

Please, be rest assured that the University as a tradition will pay the parents a condolence visit immediately and equally improve on any matter which border on welfare and the comfort of all students.

To this end a meeting of management and all the governors of Ikole campus is scheduled for tomorrow. Details on this shall be communicated shortly.
